At the risk of devulging trade secrets (-: here is the correct method to solder Cardas 33awg:hold the end of the wire in a tweezers approx. 1/8" back from the end of the wire. This saves your fingers and acts as a stop to prevent the outer polyurathene coating from melting back forever and ever.
If using a regulated soldering iron run it up to 400-450C.
Melt solder onto the tip of the iron and allow it to create a small pool of molten solder. Dip the end of the wire into the pool of solder which will nearly instantly melt the outer PU and tin the strands. You will see if this is successful with a shiny tip.
Next tin the end of the cartridge clip while holding it with a piece of stiff wire inserted into the non-solder end. Bring the clip close to then end of wire and using the iron reflow the solder in the clip and while molten insert it over the wire of put the wire into the clip whichever works best for you.
If the wires are already installed in the Rega arm (which is the only logical way of doing it) you should practice on a different piece of wire until you get it down.
Hopes this helps (I´ve done literally 1000s of joints with Cardas 33awg using this method without a cold solder joint)
