John, you are describing a very interesting pair of early CG's. Neither have I heard of CG's in 16 ohms. The fact that they were special order may explain it.

As for the tweeter mix, I'm stumped. '62 was the first year for the Y tweets, which are 9 dB hotter than the X's. In smaller systems they padded down the extra level around the crossover range in a way that I don't like at all. Maybe this was a way of toning down the extra highs in a way that was more acceptable. (4 X's and 4 Y's should give an average level 4.5 dB above the straight X's by themselves.)

I would be interested more about these unusual CG's.
