Dear Larry:

I have used them at 27", 36" and they sound pretty much the same at those heights. I've also placed them on small ladders and 2 stainless stell speaker stands that I made a long time ago. The characteristics of the device don't seem to change. I believe 99% of the effect is because of the shape and position of the device.
