Hisounds like your tube preamp's ~3K line output is a fine match for the 75K input load on your amp assuming cables aren't really long as the capacitance would form a how-pass filter in conjunction with the 3K ouput Z (and amp input C) btw - 3K is lower than a lot of passive line/volume controls so you're OK. The driving Z should be considerably less than the input Z.
I don't know the topology of your MFA preamp but will guess it has a medium-mu tube as a plate-follower (common-cathode)line stage.
subjective bass tightness can be due to a number of things including the preamp's power supply style.
