Hi...hard to say if your were scammed or not - depends if the seller made reps and warrants that led you to beleive that the tubes were the 1578 tubes. But, if their is no 1578 on the glass, then you have a $5 tube that sounds OK, but not anywhere near the 1578 sound.

Sorry, if that happened to you. As a side, many USSR tubes now have fake 1578 stamps on the glass. I stopped buying them as it was getting harder to tell the difference and the hassle was not worth it.
