I once tried 6H8C and suspect the tubes were late production. I did not care for the tubes compared to Sylvania 6SN7GTA 'Y' plate tall base with top getter often called 'chrome tops'. Further, the various Sylvania 6SN7s 'T' plates including the sought after 1940s metal base Sylvania 'T' plates did not perform near as well. The early Sylvania 6SN7GTA 'Y' plate tall base chrome top provides crystal clear, neutral & detailed sonics in my amplifiers. I guess the forementioned tall base GTA are 1951-1954 production.

What I stated above does not seem to align with what others comment about the various Sylvania 'T' plate tubes. Thus, the circuit and personal preferences must be a huge factor in evaluating tube performance.
