The 1578 Russian metal based tubes are competetive with the best 6SN7 tubes.

Finding the real McCoy, in NOS is the hard part :>

Compared to the Sylvania 6SN7W ( a great tube!), the 1578 has better ambiance and air, the W has the edge in clarity and inner detail.

In my system, where the 1578 sets itself apart is in its ability to reveal the sheer musical experience of the performance.

I have sold dozens of pairs of these tubes to different clients and all of them liked the tube, while most of them think the 1578 is the finest sounding tube they have ever heard - besting the Tung Sol round plates, the Sylvania 6SN7W, the Brimar and 5692 tubes!
