I use a 2A3 Fi Super X with a pair of Abbys. Given that the Abbys are not too efficient and that the Fi Y and X should be a good combo, I am surprised to find a "too much gain problem" almost with any 2V source I am using. Apparently the Fi X is extremely sensitive as well. Even Terry mentioned that he runs his passively attenuated Fi X at 80%, when using an active pre. Adding everything together I would guess that have about 10dB too much gain at the moment.

Don suggested adding more attenuation to two of the input by just in putting resistors in series between input and selector switch. The outside EVS attenuators or the Rothwell would of course accomplish the same.
