if you are listening at such low levels that the pot is mistracking, chances are you have way too much gain.

try this simple test. at the point where the pot shows a 6dB difference between channels measure the various resistances between the pins. This will allow you to calculate the attenuation you are using and give you a better picture of what you need to do.

Simply finding a pot that tracks better below -40dB of attenuation is a band-aid to a wound that needs stitches.
