Dear Lynn,

Hey, I remember that conversation and I think for the circuit technology that Kondo-san uses it remains correct in my view, silver is the only material which has the "absolute" behaviour to make a top level capacitor.

What I have found since this discussion in 1995 (??) is that replacng the signal capacitors with interstage/face transformers of suitable quality, even a copper wired transformer (using nickel double c-cores) sounds much better than a silver capacitor in every circuit I have tried sofar, which only goes to prove that capacitors, regardless of quality, have clear sonic limitations and that there are other more important elements at play.

In speakers it is possible to "match out" most of the effect of the capacitor, but in my experience a better capacitor still provides disproportionally greater fidelity compared to cost, except off course silver caps which are rather costly.

Sincerely,
Peter Qvortrup
