and I must echo your point of view wholeheartedly.I've seen far too many designs based on typical textbook case with minor modifications or "twist" if you know what I mean.
I'm sick and tired of those "so-called" designers trying to "re-invent" the wheels with some 50+ year old designs. While most of the foundations have been properly "laid" some 70years ago esp. in the field of tube electronics, most of them are somewhat "compromised" in most areas such as PSU performance, bandwidth, noise, etc.
IMHO I'm a firm believer of designing things from ground up. With the aid of modern high freq. and bandwidth measuring instruments and also modern parts and such, we shall be able to achieve much better performance out of tube electronics and many otherwise considered "old and outdated" designs.
