At 130V on plate with 360 ohm cathode resistor 417A draw 23mA.
That mean for me bias at 8.28V.
Now that mean we be safe to use even 1:3 step-up input trafo.
1:3 step-up give as 3 x 44 = gain of 132.
So now tell me it's 100V peak-to-peak it's possible from one tube
or not ??????????????> >

Joe,
Look at the plate characteristics curves. It doesn't show 8v unfortunately, so we can't plot it, but the lines are clearly starting to seperate unevenly and lay down out there. I'd be amazed if the distortion was under 5%, even with the transformer load. And what is the linearity of your proposed 1:3 step-up transformer?

(Joe, I'm not doubting you can lash together one stage that will swing a whole bunch of volts! What I'm doubting is that it can be done with under 1% THD without resorting to NFB)

regards,

joel
