For me, just 'getting it to work' was really a hard work. I understand what you mean but to follow your tip, huge choke DCR and power tranny are needed, making too heavy an amplifier. It is now almost 40 pounds per channel.
I will try to remove the choke one each per tube(I hope to feel the difference to encourage myself ..) and try to get the bias..or build all again?
