Thanks for your reply Lynn

I guess I've been living in the Dark Ages when it came to drivers. Here I was, happy in my little "resistor loaded 6SN7 will do fine" world. The 300B (new version EH) sounds much more alive now with this driver. I had thought the EH300B a bit sluggish and lacking in the frequency extremes, but now I have a higher opinion of it (although I still don't think it does bass quite like the best NOS 2A3s I've heard).

I've done experiments in the past with high current drivers, and while I liked the gutsy drive they delivered, I could never stand the distortion introduced by the relatively low load resistor. Plate chokes (or trannies or CCS) change all that.

I've got a stash of 10s and 45s that I might employ as drivers. I'll let you all know how they sound.

Cheers
Doug
