Re: matching, yes the 6C45Pi is all over the map, you must get a matched pair or else life will be miserable.

Re: microphonic, not in my experience, however, without proper precautions, they are prone to parasitic oscillation which can show up as microphonics very easily. It can also show up as excess hum. basically what is happening is that he oscillation is modulating any hum or microphonic signal present and exacerbating it. Lose the oscillation, you lose the microphonics or hum. Short traces, grid stoppers, good solder joints, proper routing are all required. A low-DCR path from grid to ground is a plus too - a grid choke, or a low source impedance ahead of the 6C45Pi so you can use a small grid resistor, these are also plusses with this tube.

Re: the musicality of this tube (as mentioned in another post): it allows flexibility in design that other tubes don't - you have low output impedance and high amplification in one stage, resulting in fewer stages, excellent dynamics & bandwidth, fewer parts, simpler circuits. Sounds very musical to me but WTFDIK? - YMMV!
