Hmmmmmm.....interesting!
I have heard both the CDM-7NT & CDM-9NT & have also heard the CDM7SE which I believe preceeded the NT version. Hated the sound very much. I personally felt that the DM series offered better sound hence went ahead (at that time) & bought the DM604S2. I used to own those for 3 yrs & after discovering several sonic flaws in that speaker, switched speakers. During the course of those 3 yrs I heard several other B&W speakers most noteworthy of them being the N801 & the N803. The N801 was hooked up to some CAL front-end & Krell pre & power. Sound sucked! I heard it again in a completely diff. environment but this time w/ Rowland Model 6 mono blocks & some Integra electronics. Sound sucked even more!
My friend owns the N803 & he drives it w/ a Plinius SA-250. That sound is very appealing.
Overall, I feel that B&W is a very hi-fi sounding speaker designed to make an initial impact but not designed for sustained & long-term listening. Seems best suited for HT applications more than 2-ch serious listening, IMHO.
If I can help it, I'll never touch another B&W speaker again!
