It's still early on and they're not broken in yet but your J is hardly a slouch in the bass department already embarrassing my Wharfedales - which are 95db horn three ways with ten inch woofers which do muster 40hz. Considering the wharfedales are about 3 times the volume(size) compared to the J's and were built as the companies' flagship power rocker it can't muster it. What is more surprising to me is the bass is so damn clean and far tighter than my Wharfedales.
My Sound and Vision test disc gets the J at 25hz and 32hz more noticable - there is no sweep between these two on the disc. This of course doesn't matter you can tell when you listen to music. I can feel it too so it's not just depth it maintains itself at higher volume levels. And this with the speakers 5 inches higher than recommended.
