Hey, glad you are making some improvements.

As for the budget, I get that. One think you may want to think about if you are stuck with the receiver for now, is keeping it and adding an amp if it the Denon has pre outs. That is a cost effective way to go in the short term. THen you can add a pre and sell the receiver.

So now we are looking at inexpensive tweaks. Have you tried setting them 100% vertical?

That is worth a try, and I much prefer that presentation over the tilt in the stock speakers.

Another twaek that can improve things especially the highs is to use magwire as speaker cables, and specifically thin ones.

If you have runs say 8ft or less go to radio shack and buy the $5 package of magnet wire. Use the green spool and wire the speakers up with that. It is 26g wire. Don't worry, you won't hurt anything- remember that the panels themselves have almost 100 ft of thin wire so what is 8 more ft?. Just use some sand paper to strip off the insulation and wire it up and see what it does. Then you can work on dressing it up and terminating it and maybe adding other strands, although, I am still using 2 runs of the red spool (30g) for my bass run to my MMGS.

This should help the resolution alot.

Also, try cleaning all the connectors with de oxit and coating them with silclear or something like that.

Do you have the speakers toed in? If so try no toe in or try more. This can effect the treble.

Finally, if you really want to adress this on the cheap, you could re do the crossover using tazmons capless design. I bet even using some inexpensive parts would give you a wow like the fuse did.

Basically you need 2 inductors (you can use the existing caps that are on the high pass) and some resistors. That can be had for pretty cheap.
