dnm,

The Cascade product over the back of the metal driver frame did make a difference. I noticed the difference when playing music at louder listening levels. With the product only on the pole piece, when music was being played loudly, placing my hand on the back of the drive, it picked up a great deal of vibrations. After adhering the product over the back of the driver, vibrations were minimized.

Regarding the tweeters, I initially mounted them directly on the hardwood frames using a rubberized gasket positioned between the frames and the tweeter. I noticed that while playing, the tops of the tweeters would vibrate along with the panels.

I used a galvanized flat flange fitting used to secure galvanized pipe to a flat surface. I used ¾” PVC pipe except for the flange and constructed an upside down “U” out of3/4” PVC and two flange fittings. The flange fittings are screwed into the base of the maggies and the upside down “U” is directly behind the vertical panel or driver unit. The height of the “U” is about ¾” higher than the speaker. I then filled the PVC with sand. The tweeters are secured to the PVC pipe using “conduit hanger with speed thread” manufactured by Halex. UPC #051411267810 found at Home Depot. Cost is less than $3.00 for quantity five which you will end up using four, two for each tweeter.

The result is now when playing music at all levels, my finger picks up zero vibration when placed on top of the tweeters. The music sounds much more transparent along with greater extension. I was shocked by the level of improvement.

I also ended up tilting the Linaeums downward a bit so that they aim slightly above the listeners head. This expanded the presentation a bit for a larger soundstage.

I positioned the tweeters above the tweeter panel area of the Maggies. I am using Obbligato Copper Caps with values of 1.50uf, 0.47uf, 0.33uf, and a Mundorf Silver Oil Supreme at 0.10uf as a bypass for the crossover. Also, I ended us using a Mills 1.5ohm resistor. Connect the tweeter in parallel to your existing cross over and invert polarity.

I was going to take some pictures but my batteries are dead. If you decide to give this a try, let me know and I will send some photos.

Hoshi
