Wrt 'rubber throats' & Carlson slots, I don't know if this has been discussed here before, but can something like that be done for a br port? I'm finishing the cabinet work on my basement blasters (I must say the one I have loaded with drivers can go very, very loud, but I still am doing some tweaking in the bass tuning & for the hf horn part eq.) & could fairly easily cut a tapered opening in the sides of my br port tubes right now. Just fishing for things to try.

Best of luck,

Tom Dawson

ps: Btw, it's sort of fun to hear the 2 1/2 way basement blaster sound like a one woofer speaker through the xover range (about 600hz) - the woof/tweet integration, vertical & horizontal matching and crossover range transient response are quite promising and I expect these things to be able to image like champs in the right environment. Just walking around in an arc and listening, the lateral angular response of the upper woofer (due to baffle step) near the xover frequency may be the same or even a little narrower than of the 90 degree biradial horn. I figure, with the 2 foot deep box, there should be a partial cancellation near 300hz when backed up against a hard wall, but haven't really noticed it in listening yet. This might be related to all three 2226's coming in as a vertical array at about this frequency.
