I don't think that we are talking about the same thing. Esoteric, non-average, "hearing accuity at an extreme" listeners have nothing to do with the venue. And the venue has a lot to do with the discussion. I have not heard, except for Tom, anyone here talk about making systems for stadiums and concert halls. The people here may be everything that you say, but that has nothing to do with the issue.

Just as a point of reference, no study has ever shown that "golden ears" or "hearing accuity at an extreme" subjects have any better ability to hear things when clearly told waht the task is. Audiophiles already know the task, while the novice doesn't and this is put down as a better "acuity" among audiophiles. This is simply not true.

In two tests that I performed (and I know of others) the "golden ears" performed worse than the average - but thought that the opposite was true.
