I bought one of these (a few months ago at Audio Advisor, $149) for movies. As a transport for 2 channel redbook CDs (DAC = ART DI/O) I think it has better definition, especially at the high end, than my NAD C540. In my system, the 763SA soundstage is at least as good, no significant difference in bass.
I haven't listened to many SACDs yet... I've no opinion on that aspect.
