as i mentioned; i didn't hear any comments that were in conflict with what i wrote.....but i wouldn't want to speak for anyone else. both 'Bud' and 'Ted Smith' are well known and have done lots of comparison listening with various digital players and are quite familiar with my room and system.

yes, those are the Midi Exqusites with Diamond tweeters and Enigma wireing. these are loaners until get my new Von Schweikert VR9's. i did sell my Exqusite 1D's. the Midi is better than the 1D in every way......although i still love the 1D and would recommend it highly. the reason for my change is my new room is much larger than my old room and the 1D's did not support low bass in the new room...they only went down to 40hz whereas they went to the mid-20hz range in my old room.

the Midis are much more extended in the highs.......although be careful of amplification.....ss might cause the Diamond tweeter to be too prominent.....my Tenor Hybrids are just right.

the Midi's have a new mid-range ceramic driver that results in an even better clarity and detail (hard to believe).....and the two 9" woofers go to the 20hz range with more authority and weight than the 1D's. the Midi's are rated to 22hz.....which in a more normal sized room i can see.

with these benefits the Midi retains the magical coherence and disappearing act of the 1D's. the only issue is that the Midi is a 4 ohm speaker and would not be as mid-powered tube amp friendly as the 1D......which with my 300 watt (600 watts into 4 ohms) Tenor Hybrid mono's is not an issue.

highly recommended!!
