I've been wondering what it would have been like...

... had I gone for the Esoteric X-01. It was actually top of my list together with the Lindemann 820 last July. Unfortunately or not, these two machines were not available (the X-01 not in 240v version) at the time, so I had no choice but to spring for the costlier CDSD DCC2 combination.

I certainly don't want just cold clinical discrete detail laid in front of me without cohesion. I had enough of that after 15 years of CD. Compared with the other SACD players I've auditioned & owned (Marantz SA-1, SOny SCD-1, Lindemann 820, Esoteric DV50, Krell SACD Standard) The EMM Labs combo is in a different ball park in those qualities you so aptly attributed: analogue fluidity, cohesiveness of overall presentation, visceral dynamics and life-size soundstage.

I can stop wondering for now.
