CD Treatments & Scratching

I'm a big fan of CD treatments--my current favorite is the Walker Audio Vivid--but I find that every disc I use some kind of treatment on winds up with fine scratches on it (they're the kind of scratches you can see when you hold the disc up to a light source at a certain angle). It doesn't matter what kind of treatment or what kind of applier I use. It seems unavoidable. I've used everything: Optrix, Auric, etc. Right now, I'm using Vivid and applying it with the recommended Viva paper towels, but same thing: light scratches. Now, these scratches don't affect the playback, and don't seem to compromise sound quality (the Vivid works great), but there *are* scratches nonetheless. My question is, are these normal? Or is there a way to apply CD treatments that results in absolutely NO scratches? (My thought is, probably not, since there's dust everywhere and the very process of rubbing a cloth against plastic has to leave SOME trace behind.) Any thoughts would be appreciated. I love what certain treatments--particularly the Vivid--do for the sound, but the scratches can be disconcerting to look at if the light hits the disc wrong!
