This sounds like polarized electrolytic capacitors placed in backwards
or a bad batch of capacitors. It be interesting to see what would happen to you two units if you replaced some of the key electrolytics near the servo. Last, a friend of mine found that the line voltge in his area was dropped 10% so that it could supply enough amps to everyone...try a Variac in front of your Toshiba and try upping the voltage to 120 VAC.PeAK
