Here is just one example of what I mean:
I use a Van den Hul Mainsstream Hybrid power cord on one of my source components. The power cord's stock AC plug is a Wattgate/Marinco AC plug. I found the presentation to be a bit pale sounding so I tried a Hubbell Valise AC plug, instead. The presentation with the Hubbell plug was more visceral with improved midrange presence. Still, I found the presentation could be improved (to my ear). I have settled on a Furutech AC plug since it offers a more visceral presentation, similar to the Hubbell, but with higher resolution and a lowered noise floor. All three AC plugs have unique sonic signatures and I don't consider any of them to be truly transparent. I don't think tweaking should be considered a low road to follow.
