Does that mean that adding the 89259 to the signal chain suddenly "reveals" distortion previously masked by nothing? I don't think so somehow. No, the rough sound IS THE 89259. If it sounds smooth then it is because the system losses detail and smoothes over this tendency, not the other way around.
Still, for the money and as a first thing to try it ain't a bad cable. But it also is not one I'd tolerate anywhere in my system.
But we had this discussion before, so I'll can it.
