I do not agree with Diatonic Cluster and came across a review of one of our inmates. The HMS Gran Finale is absolutely in the same ballpark with the Valhalla and its competition, cables like the Tranparent XL, etc.

"since my initial post regarding the HMS 'gran finale' cable system..ics and speaker cables..i have put about 150 hrs on them. in my initial review,which was really a comparison of a valhalla system vs HMS system,the valhallas' were,not only fully broken in via an audiodharma cooker but also with 300(+) hrs on the ics and speaker cables compared to the HMS cables being new but with 48hrs on the cooker at the time of the comparison.(for those that did not read the comparison back in feb,i believe,at that time i thought the HMS cables were at least as good as the valhallas'and in some respects better).now that an additional ~150hrs have past since that comparison the HMS cables,which i bought,have done nothing but improve since that initial test.they have really opened up and are even more musical.the soundstage has improved both in depth and width,transients are tighter,instrumental tonality is incredibly impressive,vocals,both male and female are lifelike and palpable.instrumental decay is real.the plucking of guitar strings and bowing of violins is so real.if i did the comparison all over again,at this point in time,the HMS cables,would be the clearcut winner.if there are any 'fence-sitters' out there,in regard to 'should i try these cables or not'...they are superb...not cheap..but you definitely get what you pay for and then some. just my opinion and your results may vary...but i doubt it!
