I am also making the DIY digital cables. I am building the
cable using a 0.01 mfd ceramic capacitor, without the
telescoping shield.

I am providing a link to an image illustrating how this cable could be made. If this is correct, I will leave this image posted as a reference for others who want to build this type of cable.
