RE: Antique Turntables. Give it a rest.

Oh, so many things were better 40-50 years ago: food , air , nature. I would guess life was better for many people, less stressful.High End systems of bygone era were probably as good as they are now except for the sources i.e cartridges , tape decks (arguably). Of course the low. mid priced electronic junk got a lot , lot better but things which really count like , homes, land , education, healthy food are way more expensive in general (not to count recent nose dive in economy) . I've yet to hear exceptional vintage table but most of them are competent enough not to be upset by recent hopla of acrylic "lifestyle" creations or mdf counterfeits.
Don't forget that many of the vintage cult machines were very costly and would be impossible to replicate by today "marvel engineering outfits" in any cost effective manner. I heard that new EMT tables costed as much as home.
