I beg to differ on the Grado Monos. I have had both a ME+ as well as a Sonata in my system. First of all, the midrange on these cartridges is very sweet and to-die-for in my experience. Secondly, there is nothing harsh about them to my ears. I'm wondering if you had the Grado set up correctly. The qualities you attribute are not the usual ones for Grado carts. If they have flaws, it can be slightly limited dynamics or rolled off at the frequency extremes. In any event, the Grado is well worth considering. I have a friend in the audio business and loves both the Denon and the Grado mono cheapie.
