Packing a turntable without factory packing can be a pain in the ass. Anyway, I just packed a table and found that using foam swimming noodles that kids use for swimming makes the job much easier and provides great protection. The noodles can be cut any way you need them, slice them open and they can wrapped around a reasonably thick platter. Thought I'd pass it along, BTW, my Walmart has them on clearance for $0.75.
