it's an Arcam Alpha new in 1991. CD in mono through a vintage tube system is great. There's a Unison Research Unico CD in the stereo system along with a PC based hard drive as a source.I agree with you Mike, if someone likes discovering new music how can they turn their back on digital-recorded LPs, CDs and downloads? To limit yourself to analog only is like saying that the world of mainstream music died in the 1980s and you like living in a museum.
I prefer records for many reasons and if I like a particular CD a lot and find an LP version then I'll get the vinyl to replace it. But above all else it's the music that matters, and I think life is too short to worry about where it came from. The album at the top or my wants list is a CD - Phoenix Bangkit by M.Nasir.
It's great when it goes around to make a sound.
