RE: SME 3012Series II as Broadcast arm?

Back in the 70s Capital Radio in London used SP10s with 3009/II arms and Shure M75CS or ECS cartridges in their broadcast studios. They didn't use SME headshells as they were said to be too flimsy and they replaced the armrests as the SME ones would unlock when the decks were moved about. The new shells and rests looked pretty crude IIRC.

This is from a hi-fi mag at the time with pictures - but it was 30 years ago and my memory is not so good now.
