Most 78s especially postwar ones are not particularly valuable.
But all pre tape 78s are direct cut, and it is unlikely that masters still exist for many.
If they are very old and unpopular there many only be a few left, or maybe you have the only one.
It's best to check or get advice before dumping 78s. You may be destroying recorded history - as current record companies are unlikely to re-issue if there's no money in it and copyright laws prevent individuals doing it.
I have no qualms about dumping worn copies of Frankie Laine or Glenn Miller. Or keeping them for my HMV gramophone.
