you'll probably need to reset the suspension on the LP12 every time you want to change from vinyl to shellac.
I had this problem with Pink Triangle - they explained to me that they could make a 78 capable turntable but that every time I wanted to change from vinyl to shellac I'd have to reset the suspension to stop it bottoming out. They didn't think it was worth the hassle. So I bought a PT for vinyl and a Garrard 401 for shellac.
A KAB modified Technics SL1200 would be the best way to go, unless you go idler.
The LP12, PT and TD125 are superb machines for vinyl - along with many suspended TTs. But not shellac.
