I've stopped transferring analog to digital......

unless it's for a specific purpose or an old cassette, very rare /damaged record or I really want it on my ipod - which I haven't used for about a year. We've thrown out a couple of hundred cassettes and CDs that have been compiled over the last 30 years. I never listened to them anymore and rarely play music in the car.

I think that having to transfer analog to digital in real time is a bonus, it makes me think is this really worth my time and electricity to do this? And I'd rather listen to the original than a digital copy. After my 50th birthday last year I looked over my collection and realised that out of about 4000 records and CDs a quarter haven't been played, so it was time to listen and decide whether to keep them or make room for new ones. I'm still working my way through them.

When work takes me away from home my modified G(for gramophone)pod comes with me to play vinyl or shellac I've bought. I don't have to wait to get it home before hearing it. The ipod is back up.
