Home Vinyl Asylum

Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

In the past the Linn always had its own distinctive sound,

set up properly in the right system it could be awesome. But it didn't tick my boxes and I ended up with a Pink Triangle. But that was 18 years ago.

It was also sensitive to arm and cartridge combinations, I think I'm right in saying that it didn't work with Rega arms, for example.

The advantage with Linn is an upgrade path and good resale values if you go there and it doesn't tick your boxes. The reputation has tarnished in recent years, mainly through fashion, I don't think that build quality or reliability was ever an issue with Linn - but someone else might know better.

If the Project sound is to your liking it might be better to see if the upgrade keeps the qualities you like in your existing TT and builds upon them.
