Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

For some tantalising snippets try to track down records 26 and 27

of the HMV History of Music in Sound in the mono only HLP series. They were produced for schools along with a set of Oxford University Press Books with explanantions of the works. The records and books were sold separately as far as I'm aware.

The set as a whole has some memorable performances and performers, and the music was generally recorded specially for the series, which is a great shame as much of it is inspiring and I'm sure that if full length versions had been recorded many would be significant LPs.

These two LPs, "Modern Music 1890-1950" include short works, or movements by Debussy, Falla, Skryabin, Richard Strauss, Reger, Schoenberg, Stravinsky, Shostakovitch, Berg, Satie, Dallapiccola, Bliss, Milhaud, Bartok, Roussel, Hindemith, Janacek, Copland, Rubbra and Rawsthorne.

Performers include The Julliard Quartet, Gerald Moore, Yehudi Menuhin, Allegri String Quartet, The London String Trio, The Koeckert Quartet, too many to list.

Dallapiccola, Bliss, Rubbra and Rawsthorne were in attendance when their pieces were recorded. Definitive stuff.
