Depends what you want from it...

mine is kept 50% for the fact that it's an auto single-play turntable that can take a reasonable cartridge and not damage records and 50% sentiment, I like it's looks, operation and heritage.

In my office system it is the second TT, it gets more use than my other TTs put together but that's because it's an auto and I play music when I'm working and can't keep jumping up and down to attend to it. It sounds solid and dependable, it reminds me of good uncompressed FM radio (now almost a thing of the past).

Over the years it's run with an Audio Technica AT3100XE MC, A&R E77 and Audio Technica AT95. All worked fine, but the Shure M55E seems to suit it best.

From what you've said there's a bit of work to do and the glued in headshell could be tricky. If you've nothing to lose go for it or keep it as a parts donor and get another. There are still plenty around.

Getting the spare headshell and wires is still a good idea, the connector pins are very fine and if you change cartridges a lot you then have insurance if one breaks (it's not happened to me but I've seen one where it's happened).
