created when the V15IV came out? (and an M97 a V15IV body when the V15V came out?)? I bought a M95ED in '77/8 for my SME3009 Improved and it kicked butt then. I couldn't afford a V15 so when the HE came out I upgraded the stylus. That kicked more butt.
If you have an original Shure stylus and really like the cartridge I'd get it retipped, just to the original spec would be enough. I had a Pickering 380A retipped by Expert here in the UK with a standard 7mil conical. Really good result.
Aftermarket styli are OK, some much better than others but they all seem to have a lower output than Shure originals. I assume it's the magnets, does anyone else notice this?
At this moment I'm listening to a 40 year old M55E with a new Shure N55E stylus in a Garrard LAB80II. It's pretty good - not a top flight table, but the single play auto saves me having to get up while I'm working.
The 95 is tailor-made for the Technics.
