they only pressed limited numbers, when the stampers wore out that was it. I think I am right in saying that re-issues and CDs are from master tapes, recorded at the same time.
The direct-to-discs were recorded live for each LP side, which is why there are longer gaps than normal between each track and the sides are shorter - couldn't risk running the grooves too close together.
I think they are the best recorded LPs that I ever heard, I'm sorry I only bought two as they were like four times the price of a standard LP in the UK in the late 70s.
