detachable headshells are needed for changing carts and styli and possibly extra weights. So we're talking SME type headshells and compatible arms.
If you have a dedicated 78 player/arm and only one stylus then you could use a straight arm but I found the SME3009/II - not improved - sounds and tracks better with 78s over Rega RB250, Linn LVX and Mayware arms. I guess the 3009R would be as good.
If you have the space a 3012 might be better.
Don't forget you need different EQs for best 78 playback.
