Home Vinyl Asylum

Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

Not just vinyl or London it's the whole UK

Shops like FOPP (Independent chain selling CDs DVDs Books) and Reckless have gone. We have brilliant mail order specialists who also have a shop, like Diverse Vinyl, but the picture is not good. We're too crowded and shop rents are too high. There's no money in it anymore I guess.

In London there is also Gramex in Waterloo, which is always worth a visit for Classical records (I last visited in 2006 and left with 150 78s in four crates).

Just back from holiday in Berlin with a small but great selection including:

Helen Clark on a 1916 Edison Vertical Cut Diamond Disc
Louis Armstrong - Beau Koo Jack - 1930s French Odeon 78
Coleman Hawkins - Body And Soul on new 180gm vinyl
Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back on new 180gm
The Young Gods on LP
Lutoslawski conducting his 2nd Symphony on a Polish Muza LP.

Not all cheap but good. I only managed two shops, Platen Pedro and Covers.

I'm probably not helping things by buying off the net, but if I see it and want it I'll buy it. If we don't use it we'll lose it.

Enjoy your new records
