Just got a Lenco...bought a Linn LV X arm...what now? How to remove platter and stock arm?

Recently I found a Lenco L75 turntable locally for $30. Cosmetically it's trashed. It is covered in corrosion and the letters are rubbed off. However, the platter seems tight and speed runs dead on with a strobe. The original arm is a joke. I've just ordered and paid for a Linn LV X arm as I understand this will work as a direct plug-in replacement. At this point, I have no clue as to how to go about removing the original arm. I think the platter needs to come off, right? When I transported the table, the platter didn't come off easily so I put cardboard shims underneath to keep it from spinning in the car. Now I have no idea how to get it to come off. In any case, I'm just wondering what I need to do at this point to A) perform any routine maintenance and B) remove stock arm and mount Linn.
