Just some quick comments regarding an experience I had last night. I'm running my Dual 704 with a Grado Prestige Silver and I have the Dual up on Arcici iso-cones. I'm listening to a US pressing of Badfinger "Magic Christian Music"...track 3, "Dear Angie". I notice that the guitars sound pretty harsh and overall the record sounds thin and unpleasant. I decide it's time to remove the cover from the base of the turntable and put some Cardas cable on the tonearm. The first thing I do is remove the iso-cones so that the table is resting flat on the shelf on it's original hard rubber feet. Just for kicks I drop the needle back on the record. I was quite shocked to find a DRAMATIC increase in bass response, image focus, AND the guitars smoothed out by a significant margin. Huh???
