Andy" Likewise, a rally-driving mate of mine reckoned cryoing parts of his WRX engine made it go faster!! :-))"
Actually in this case it's is pretty much a given, as legitimately Cryogenic ally treated engine and transmission Steel parts, Crankshafts, Camshafts, helical gears etc. etc. surfaces are considerably hardened Carbide migrates to the surface as well as being almost entirely stress relieved as the internal crystalline / molecular structure assumes a higher degree of uniformity, identical to what one finds with hammer forging, bottom line the parts in your friends WRX engine are a good deal less prone to structural failure
and a great deal harder and more uniform greatly reducing lubricant
interface parasitic drag, I'd assume your friends WRX gained at least 15 HP.I know all about wishful thinking / irrational beliefs, I carried a condom around in my wallet from the 8th grade on thinking it would certainly get me laid ;-)
And just to demonstrate the fact that I'm as open to new idea's as anyone else, I've stuck my cherished Barry Manilow " Enough to gag a Maggot Tour Live " 200 gm. LP is now residing in my freezer, under last summers 6 lb Channel Catfish and adjacent to the Microwave burritos
Kind Regards Ferd
