Re: 1987 is a bit long in the tooth

I've compared the Denon to Musical Fidelity 3.2, Linn Genki and Linn Ikemi and was expecting the large difference in satisfaction you mention but so far have only heard relatively minor differences or improvements and can't figure out why.

On the analog side: I have a Rega Planar 3 with an SME IIIs tonearm and a Shure V15 III cartridge with a VN35MR stylus and use an ARC SP9 as a phono stage. I have heard better analog systems but they have been much more expensive and I suspect that mine is good enough as a reference point. I am however looking for a better turntable to come for sale locally at an attractive price.
