Its been a while and my memory of my conclusion is better than my memory of the detail but I do remember the following:There was nothing that bad about the the M97 but the V15 seemed to have significantly more detail at the top and and sounded clearer throughout the range. Despite the extra high end info, some high female vocals that gave me listening fatigue with the M97 were OK with the V15.
My overall impression was that they were not in the same class which is not that surprising considering the price difference.
I wish I felt otherwise. I'd much rather be buying cartridges for $60 that what I suspect I'll have to pay next time.
I guess I should also comment that I was comparing a single M97xe with a single V15III. Even though I took care with the set-up and I compared with a variety of music and with a variety of equipment its possible that other M97s or V15s may sound different.
I hope that this helps
David
